Meet Tomato Friend, a handcrafted cloth doll inspired by Waldorf traditions and made from natural materials.

Handcrafted from nature's finest fibers, each Tomato Friend is thoughtfully made to become a cherished companion, a meaningful gift, or an heirloom keepsake to treasure for years to come. Whether treasured as a keepsake, gifted with love, or welcomed into everyday adventures, each doll is a gentle reminder to find joy in life's simple moments.

Every doll is lovingly handcrafted by Irene in her Pasadena, California studio. I blush each doll's cheeks by hand using natural beeswax, creating a soft rosy glow that will gently fade over time. The color can easily be refreshed using tinted beeswax, such as Stockmar.

Each doll arrives tucked inside a reusable muslin bag and is carefully packaged in a sturdy cardboard box.

Care Instructions

If your doll becomes dirty, spot clean with a small amount of wool-friendly soap whenever possible. If a full bath is needed:

1. Add a small amount of wool detergent to lukewarm water.
2. Soak the doll for about 15 minutes.
3. Rinse briefly with clean water.
4. Gently press out excess water with a clean towel—do not twist or wring.
5. Reshape the head and body if needed.
6. Lay flat on a dry towel and allow to air dry. A fan or cool hair dryer may help speed up the drying process.

To refresh the rosy cheeks, rub a beeswax block crayon onto a soft cloth, then gently apply the color in circular motions.

Every now and then, let your doll enjoy a little sunshine—nature's gentle way of keeping wool fresh.

Because every La Lovie doll is handmade, each one has its own unique personality. Handcrafted by Irene at her Pasadena, California studio, each doll takes approximately 5–6 hours to complete.
